The European TriAnkle project was present yesterday at the 8th edition of the annual international congress organised by OAFI at the Axa Auditorium in Barcelona. Under the slogan ‘Much more than patients’ this solidarity congress hosted interesting conferences related to osteoarthritis: chronic pain, cell therapy and regenerative medicine, artificial intelligence in favour of osteoarthritis, the importance of sport and nutrition in patients with joint ailments, obesity and morbidity in osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia, among other topics of interest.
In this context, Lluis Quintana, coordinator of the TriAnkle project and director of Viscofan BioEngineering, Gil Rodas, Medical Director of Barça Innovation Hub, and Nina Martinez, Head of Research & Development at OAFI Foundation, presented the TriAnkle project, funded by the European Union. TriAnkle explores the use of 3D printing technologies to develop customised implants that can aid in the regeneration of tissues such as tendons and cartilage. This project could revolutionise the management of sports injuries and the prevention of osteoarthritis, offering personalised solutions that go beyond symptomatic relief to address tissue regeneration and the preservation of long-term joint function.
